Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life

Fraternity and sorority membership has long been one of the more popular student involvement opportunities at Butler. In 1859, Butler’s first fraternity chapter was chartered, followed by the first sorority arriving in 1874. In 1922, the historically Black National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organization Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was chartered. Approximately 39% of the Butler undergraduate student population holds membership in one of our chapters.
